I started watching Caprica on the back of the excellent BSG which I loved from start to finish.  As RDM has a very high standing within the sci-fi world I was eager to watch this new show.

Now we have had 9 episodes, I am now starting to get frustrated with the slowness of this show and sheer lack of drive to get the main story going, with some of the sub plots being quite boring (Graystones wife for starters and the death of her brother??).

People have been quick to levy critism of shows like SG:U but some also needs to be thrown at Caprica, which is getting tiresome to watch, with any luck after the mid season break we might start seeing something abit more interesting.

I've only seen the first 5 episodes so far. "There Is Another Sky" was a great episode.

From what you're saying, it seems like the writers of Caprica are taking the same liberties they did in the later BSG episodes. They knew they had an important edge-of-your-seat show and they didn't want to show all their cards at once. Caprica is not to that point yet, so maybe they need to throw us a bone or two.

I still like both of them, different flavours of sci-fi

I think Caprica is better than SGU. Caprica is very much sci-fi as a backdrop, rather than something like Voyager where it's pretty much what defines the shows.

I suppose if you feel it necessary for sci-fi to be defined by people spewing forth nonsensical polysyllabic sentences, explosions and aliens of the week - this isn't for you. It seems like human drama - or digital facsimiles of humans in robots - is becoming more prevalent... I can't say I'm disappointed.
